Tonight I found a way to get my livejournal posts (and comments) imported into this blog (WordPress). For those of you who have never taken a look at my livejournal or who are just plain bored, take a look back at the archives. The livejournal entries start from April 27, 2004 and go back to 2001. I think that since I now have those entries archived here, I will be deleting my livejoural account. It really serves no purpose anymore. If anyone is interested, here is the process I used to get the entries converted.
- Download ljArchive (http://sourceforge.net/projects/ljarchive)
- Create an archive of your livejournal (I recommend getting comments too, but whatever floats your boat)
- Export the archive to an XML file
- Use the import facility in WordPress (Admin/Manage/Import/LiveJournal)
- Choose your XML file and voila, entries with correct dating and comments are now available in WordPress
I haven’t had a chance to go back and read all of the old entries, hopefully there isn’t anything too incriminating there. Also I know for a fact there were some of those stupid quiz things (similar to the ones that you see in MySpace these days) where you post a picture that represents your results, anyhow the point is those pictures apparently don’t exist anymore, so if a post seems utterly useless, that is probably the reason.
