Not Microsoft

Posted on July 30, 2003

As Justin has already noticed, I have switched most of my browsing use to Mozilla Firebird. It’s a great browser and haven’t found much it can’t do. The password management has some things to be desired but that is promised to change in future versions. So for web sites that I need to log into I still use IE, but that is rare anymore.

I also, just tonight, switched my instant messaging client from Trillian to Gaim (on recommendation from Ben). I’ve used it all but 5 minutes, and like it a lot thus far. I’ll keep ya posted.

I have now been using Firebird since yesterday morning, and I have to say it has some nice features. The feature I like the most is the built-in pop-up blocking. That’s a great feature. The thing I really don’t like about it is the way it downloads pictures. It will download the entire picture at one time, and then focus it. I like the picture to download from top to bottom, like IE does. Firebird reminds me more of Opera (less Opera’s built-in advertisements) than Netscape or IE (I now have four browsers installed).

another great feture that i havent seen anywhere lese that i LOVE with MoxFirebird is the multipul homepage option, you can pipe (‘|’) seperate sites and on loadup they will be loaded as seperate tabs.
so “news.google.com|slashdot.org” will open up 2 tabs. super cool. =) also thers quite a few options that you have to tinker with in you user.js & prefs.js file. wonderful browser cant wait to see what happens as we approach 1.0 =)
