I saw this on slashdot, and decided to mirror the pictures on my site and put them side by side for better comparison. Anyhow, a NOAA satellite captured the area affected by the blackout both before and after it occurred. You can notice a big difference in the brightness coming from the cities that were affected by the blackout.
